"Hilton Barnfield Architects (HBA) have played a major role in the transformation of our small Exeter bungalow into a significantly larger dream home with lots of eco features, including external wall insulation, triple glazing, a heat pump, a green roof and solar panels. HBA produced a wonderful design for the transformed house, working closely with us from initial inception and always ready to take on board our requests. The original internal layout was radically altered and a large extension was added. It now provides us with a spacious home where rooms flow into each other and the south-facing aspect is used to maximum effect. We love it. They also managed the whole project from the preliminary design, planning application and building control processes, right through to the completion of the building work. They worked closely and positively with our builders; and there were no significant delays or major cost uplifts. We moved into the finished house in Summer 2024. Once the bulldozers started the project it was great to have the reassurance of an architect to ensure things run smoothly and this was greatly assisted by a great builder and his team in Dale Chadwick. Our build was not without issues especially at the early Groundworks stage when a SWW pipe was further in the ground than anticipated, but having a team in place allowed this to be sorted quickly and get back on track.
