Barc Architects

"We are so pleased we appointed Barc architects and Barc build to renovate our cold house. Barc have vision and expertise on low carbon technology so were a world apart from our previous architects. Joe, Billy, and Caroline talked us through every aspect of our build, taking our concerns seriously and discussing the trade-offs. Joe’s diligence and incredible attention to detail alongside Billy’s experience and knowledge made us look forward to project meetings as we knew they would deal professionally and thoughtfully with any problem that might arise. We’ve gone from a cold and draughty house to a warm and welcoming home, with things we couldn’t possibly have visualised before appointing Barc. We couldn’t recommend them more."

"Highest recommendation for Caroline and the team at Barc. We were introduced to Barc Architects through a personal recommendation for our project in Salcombe, and it was hands-down the best decision we made. As first-time builders, we went entirely on our gut reaction. While we looked at another local firm, the difference was night and day, where others showed a bored indifference, Caroline made us feel completely safe, comfortable, and valued. A few things that set Barc apart: • No-Nonsense Expertise: Caroline is calmly unflappable. There is absolutely zero BS with her. When we had ideas that wouldn't work structurally or aesthetically, she wasn't afraid to push back and guide us. She was always right, and we quickly learned to trust her implicitly. • Incredible Team: The boutique nature of the practice means you get genuine personal attention. Her team shares her core values, showing a nearly forensic attention to detail on-site and ensuring the relationship between design and build was seamless. • True Collaborative Spirit: They listen, they refine, and they suggest brilliant ideas (like maximising our skyline views) that we never would have thought of. As a lawyer, I'm used to evaluating fees. While the initial investment surprised me as a newcomer to building, looking back, they were worth every single penny. If you want a brilliant, human-focused architectural practice that delivers a high-end, stress-free experience, you need to meet Caroline. Four years on we still marvel at the phoenix that we built from the metaphorical ashes of our holiday bungalow in the knowledge that habit not been for Caroline and her crew that particular dream may never have materialised."

"What a wonderful experience Barc provided for us. Held our hands in the process from start to finish - and we wouldn't have known where to start without them. From the initial chats to help shape the vision, to the concepts, guidance, and consulting through the planning phase. The team were super helpful at every step of the way and always kept us to date with how things were going. The designs are not only fantastic, the team are super friendly, helpful, and so caring. I would not hesitate to recommend Barc to anyone looking to build their own home - you couldn't be in safer hands."

"After meeting with a number of architects and considering their proposals, we decided to appoint Barc to design and project manage our new build in Exton, Devon. From the outset we were struck by their enthusiasm, knowledge and experience. Caroline took the trouble to visit our existing home over 200 miles away, to get a better understanding of how we live and what we like, so that when the first designs were produced they were a very close interpretation of our ideas, with added features and details that confirmed that we had made the right choice. The entire project took just over two years from instruction to completion and suffered the usual high's and low's, but Barc were always a calm, reassuring influence and ultimately they produced the house that we now proudly call our home. Their key attributes are attention to detail, a genuine understanding of high specification buildings and an ability to maintain control without being controlling. We enjoyed the experience of working with Caroline and all the team and we love the result. 'Barc' is a group of very talented people who deserve their success."

"Barc Architects were appointed to design our contemporary new build home in Plymouth. Extremely professional and pragmatic, Caroline went out of her way to resolve contractual issues, providing sound advice and support where needed. We now have a beautiful home that we are extremely proud of and cannot thank Barc enough for getting us through it."
